Recommended equipment

Below is a list of equipment we recommend purchasing when building your own pop-up, waterfront driving range. These recommendations are based on our experience of producing 350+ waterfront driving range events.

Biodegradable Golf Balls

Use golf balls that are certified to be biodegradable and eco-friendly by third party organizations. These balls degrade in the water and there is no need to clean them up after the event. These golf balls can be hit by any golf club and will fly ~60% the distance of a normal golf ball. Biodegradable golf balls are supplied by Splash City Golf.

Floating Golf Targets

Hitting biodegradable golf balls into the water is fun. Hitting them at a floating golf target is addictive. Our high-technology floating golf targets are designed to work in almost any water environment, from the roughest seas to tranquil waters. We will introduce you to our recommended floating golf target vendor when you are ready. Purchase, lease, and rental options are available. You can create and purchase the target flag on signs.com.

Choose 36" W, 18" H.  Choose double sided.  Choose grommet strip on the left. Purchase one flag for each purchased floating golf target.

Hitting Platforms

These platforms provide a stable hitting experience for participants. The adjustable legs create a level surface on hills, lumpy grass, sand, gravel, and all other types of surfaces. These platforms also prevent participants from ruining your property with divots. Hitting turf and rubber golf tees go on top of the platforms. Lightweight and easy to carry, these hitting platforms are perfect for pop-up, waterfront driving ranges.

Select 16”-24” Adjustable Height in Height and Aluminum (Weatherproof) in Finish. Each platform is for one golfing participant.

Purchase one turf mat for each hitting platform purchased.

Choose the all 1.5” option if you are only using wedges. Choose the mixed pack if you are using longer clubs, like a driver. Order one set per two hitting platforms.

Golf Clubs

We recommend purchasing golf clubs from Lazrus Golf, an American company that provides high quality golf clubs at a reasonable price. Purchase golf clubs that make sense for your setup. If you plan on sending the target only 40-60 yards out, purchase wedges and 9 irons. If you plan on letting your golf participants hit the ball as far as they can, purchase drivers and 3 woods. Make sure you purchase right and left handed golf clubs and that you purchase enough clubs so that all your hitting stations can be used at the same time.

Explore Lazrus Golf’s website and determine which clubs you’d like to purchase. There may not be the option to purchase single clubs on their website (for example, to purchase 3 right handed 9-irons). However, if you text them your preferred order at 208-515-3742 and tell them Daniel Bucci from Splash City Golf referred you, they will help you out.

If your venue hosts events that have kids, you’ll want to purchase clubs specifically for them. Below are our recommendations.

Golf Buckets

Purchase at least one more bucket than hitting stations. For example, if you purchase two hitting stations, purchase at least three buckets. This ensures your participants won’t be waiting around during the event.
